The team of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science took part in international competitions HITCTF2020.

AmSU Cyber Team took part in the international student cybersecurity competition HITCTF2020. The competition was organized by the Cyberspace Security School of HIT, supported by Harbin Antiy Technology Group Co., Ltd. и DBAPP Security Co., Ltd.

Competitions were held from December 4 to 6 online and were held in accordance with international CTF (Capture the flag) rules. Such competitions are held in the game form, in which teams acquire and demonstrate skills in the field of information security and computer science.

A total of 38 student teams took part in international competitions, including 10 teams representing various Russian universities Denis Fomin, senior lecturer of the Department of information and control systems, was the instructor of the AmSU team. According to Denis Fomin, during the preparation and participation in the competition, students became aware of the practical importance of certain disciplines and software tools, for example, assembly programming, IDA disassembler, hexadecimal editor.

By the way, some of the tasks in the competition were in Chinese. This did not prevent the AmSU team, which took part in this type of competition for the first time, from taking 26th place out of 38 teams and 5th place among Russian teams.

The overall standings were won by the Chinese team REDBUD from Tsinghua University, the best Russian team was KBSP from the Moscow Institute of radio engineering, electronics and automation. They received cash prizes of 10 and 3 thousand yuan, respectively.
