A Brief History
History of the university is closely associated with the history of the Amur Region. Blagoveshchensk Technological Institute was founded on the basis of Blagoveshchensk Technical Faculty in 1975. At that moment it was the first institute of light industry in the Far East. In 1992 Blagoveshchensk Technological Institute was renamed into Blagoveshchensk Polytechnical Institute. Two years later the Polytechnical Institute developed into a full-fledged multidisciplinary university – the Amur State University.

History of the University is closely associated with the history of the Amur Region. Blagoveshchensk Technological Institute was founded in 1975. Initially, there was only the Technical Department of Khabarovsk Polytechnical Institute. At that moment it was the first institute of light industry in the Far East. In 1992, Blagoveshchensk Technological Institute was renamed into Blagoveshchensk Polytechnical Institute. Two years later the Polytechnical Institute developed into a full-fledged multidisciplinary university – the Amur State University.
AmSU Historical Timeline
1975 Blagoveshchensk Technological Institute was founded on the basis of Technical Department.
1992 Blagoveshchensk Technological Institute was renamed into Blagoveshchensk Polytechnical Institute. It had 3 department at that moment –Department of Engineering, Department of Economics, and Department of Technology (currently it is the Department of Design and Technology).
1993 A new department appeared: Department of International Relations and Foreign Economic Cooperation. First international students came to study at AmSU.
1994 Blagoveshchensk Polytechnical Institute was renamed into the Amur State University.
1995 More departments appeared: Department of Law, Department of Social Sciences, Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences.
1998 First protocols and agreements of international cooperation and academic exchanges with foreign institutions were signed. Russian students went abroad for their first language internship.
1998 Department of International Relations, Department of Philology, and Department of Engineering and Physics enlarged the list of schools.
2008 The Research and Educational Center was founded. Today it has several scientific laboratories.
2012 The Amur State University joined the Association of the Far-Eastern and Siberian Institutes of the Russian Federation and Institutes of Northeastern China.
2014 The Amur State University became a member of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) that unites elite technical universities of Russia and China.
2017 The Amur State University became a basic university of the Russian aerospace industry.
2019 The Amur State University joined ‘Belt and Road Aerospace Innovation Alliance.
