The XIII International Scientific and Practical Conference Language Studies and Language Teaching: Dreams, Hopes, Aspirations, Achievements" has started at Amur State University. The event took place on May 27-29 in an online format.

The conference was attended by 135 people-scientists, teachers of foreign languages and students from Russia, China, Korea, Japan, Australia and Kazakhstan.

In 2021, the topic of the conference was new trends, concepts, limitations and opportunities in teaching foreign languages and intercultural communication in connection with the evolution of information technologies and training resources.

Over three working days, the participants listened to the reports of their colleagues, participated in various master classes and round tables, as well as met with a representative of the association of teachers from Korea.

The following questions were discussed:

- education and language policy in the modern world;

- methods of teaching English as a foreign language, English for special and academic purposes;

- creation of educational programs for teaching a foreign language and development of training material;

- evaluation and monitoring of educational achievements, English language status in  the Asia-Pacific countries;

- saving endangered languages;

- theoretical and applied linguistics and intercultural communication;

- teaching foreign literature and culture;

- use of information technologies in teaching native and foreign languages;

- translation and interpretation studies;

- digitalization of education;

- preparation for the Unified State Exam in a foreign language.
