Oksana Loginova, a student of the Department of Law, took part in the XIII International Youth Legal Forum. The event was held on May 10 as a part of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
The International Youth Legal Forum is a landmark annual event in Russian jurisprudence that gathers young scientists, professors, representatives of various structures for dialogue and discussion on topical issues of Russian law.
The key event of the forum was the plenary session "Traditional Values in Law" with the participation of Konstantin Chuichenko, the Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation and Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. Then the meetings continued in sections.
Oksana Loginova said: “I have chosen a very interesting, but at the same time controversial section concerning biotechnologies to visit. The issue of determining the legal regime of genetic information, embryos was discussed there, as well as the legal nuances of the use of assisted reproductive technologies”.
In addition, she visited a section on bankruptcy law, where a dialogue on the topic of countering illegal actions in corporate bankruptcy within the framework of the current pro-creditor model of Russian legislation was held.
The student finished her day at the forum with a section on the responsibility of doctors who have harmed their patients. The issues on the agenda were how to find a balance between the standards of medical care and the discretion of the doctor, as well as how to properly build communication between the doctor and the patient during the delivery of medical care.
The student shared her impressions of the forum: “The International Youth Legal Forum surprised me with the vibrancy of the sections program. The event was very interesting and beneficial; it gave me good food for thought. I think this forum has contributed to my development as a person engaged in science. Of course, I will be working the raised problems out in my further research”.
