The freshmen of the Department of Secondary Vocational Education began the academic year not only by getting to know about the campus and teachers, but also by meeting the astronauts of the International Space Station.
Heroes of the Russian Federation Alexey Ovchinin and Ivan Wagner contacted the AmSU students from the International Space Station and answered their questions. The communication session was held in the unique students’ mission control center in the Far East.
“Before asking the question I read information about the ISS and astronauts and was very inspired. This is probably the only chance in my life to talk to the astronauts!” – admitted student Irina Murzina.
The students had time to ask astronauts 11 questions. Ivan Prosvirin got an unusual answer to his question. He wanted to know what the astronauts would do first when they got back to Earth.
“The most desirable thing is to take a real shower, with water flowing over the body, which is a common thing on Earth. And in space we wipe ourselves with wet and dry towels,” replied Alexey Ovchinin.
Students were also interested in the daily routine of astronauts, physical activity in zero gravity and experiments on board the ISS. “Experiments are related to many sciences: medicine, physics and others,” said Alexey Ovchinin.
