At the faculty of secondary vocational education of Amur State University, Angelika Kolosova, head of the department for extracurricular activities and social work, conducted an event dedicated to New Year celebrations in Russia and traditional festivities from various countries under the auspices of the interethnic student club “Ethnic Friendship.”
Event Objectives: To foster unity within the club's collective; integrate international students into the faculty community; introduce students to national traditions of different ethnicities.
Participants of the international student club presented reports and presentations detailing customs surrounding New Year and other holidays celebrated in their home countries. Following these theoretical insights, students engaged in a hands-on workshop hosted by Professor Galina Ananenko at the ceramics studio.
During the practical session, participants gained insight into ceramic craft techniques using pottery wheels, explored clay exhibits, and decorated pre-prepared bells adorned with New Year motifs. These handcrafted souvenirs, along with small sweet treats, served as gifts marking the conclusion of the masterclass.
This event elicited positive emotional responses among international students, immersing them in the joyous atmosphere of Russian New Year celebrations.
