New Year’s Week' for foreign students in Russia

From 16 to 20 December 2024 the 'New Year's Week' was held at the Philological Faculty and Preparatory Department of the Amur State University. More than 70 foreign students from China, Mali, Cameroon, Syria, Mongolia, Zambia, Benin, and Central African Republic took part in it.

During the week, foreign students learnt about the traditions of celebrating the New Year in Russia. They made New Year lights, cut out snowflakes, learnt the song 'A fir tree was born in the forest', read poems and wrote greetings in New Year cards. As part of 'New Year's Week', there was a photo contest 'My Winter in Russia' and a poster contest 'New Year is...' as well as a workshop on making a New Year's toy.

The winners of the photo contest 'My Winter in Russia' were
1st place winner: Keita Famurali,
2nd place winner: Billong Pauline Neli,
3rd place winner: Ading Kuna Ben Boris.

The winners in the poster contest 'New Year is...':
1st place winners: Jiang Yueting and Lei Xiaoyu,
2nd place winners: students of group 402K of preparatory department,
3rd place winners: Zhou Junfa and Wu Qifeng.

The final event with awarding the contests winners, games, poems reciting and a round dance took place on December 20.

The 'New Year's Week' was organized and held by Elizaveta Reznichenko, Anna Syfulina, Ksenia Hanmadeva the members of the Department of Russian Language, Communication and Journalism.
