Students and teachers of AmSU went to Albazin to excavate an ancient fortress

On July 12, the next season of archaeological work started on the territory of the ancient Albazin fortress. AmSU students and teachers under the guidance of Professor Andrey Zabiyako will take part in the study of the famous object.

The expedition team also included specialists from Vladivostok and Moscow, as well as other researchers from Blagoveshchensk. Works on the territory have been carried out since 2011. This year, the mission of the expedition is not only to excavate and study the Albazin fortress, but also to carry out work at the Angai burial ground and the nearby territory.

The Albazin fortress is one of the symbols of the history of the Amur Region development by the Russians. Fortress was rebuilt several times, which makes it one of the most difficult objects to study and reconstruct.
