The creation of an international university campus in Blagoveshchensk was discussed at a meeting between the Governor of the Amur region, Vasily Orlov, and the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, Valery Falkov.
The university campus in Blagoveshchensk is being created for students and employees of scientific and educational organizations in the Amur Region. It is expected to contribute to strengthening international cooperation in education and the formation of a diverse and flexible labor market in the region.
The governor of the Amur region, Vasiliy Orlov, said that an international university campus would be located on the grounds of Amur State University. More than 26 hectares of the university's land where planned to be improved and a new educational and laboratory building, "Florensky", was to be built. It would be a modern educational and research space that would combine a design bureau, exhibition space, and centers for the gas and chemical industries and IT technologies, which would be created in partnership with leading Russian companies. A new stadium and sports field where as planned for the campus, as well as new dormitories for both students and teachers, including those from abroad.
The construction of an international university campus is included in the master plan for Blagoveshchensk, which was approved by the President of Russia and the Government of the country. The large-scale project consists of several stages. The first stage is the creation of a Florensky educational and laboratory building, followed by the construction of dormitories and a stadium. As part of the third phase, it is planned to establish an infrastructure for research in Earth sciences. Finally, major repairs of existing university buildings and landscaping are planned.
