On November 1, 2024, the International Students’ Club for the students of the Economics Department was launched (ISC ED). Its activities are aimed at the development of international cooperation, adaptation of foreign students of the department to the social environment and university community, and the promotion of cross-cultural understanding and mutual respect.
The advisor of the club is Olga S. Kolesnikova, vice dean of the Economics Department for Scientific and International Activities. The club members are keen students from different countries studying at the department (Russia, China, Afghanistan, Angola, and Mali).
During the first meeting, the participants told about themselves, their hobbies and interests, discussed the club’s work plan for the academic year, and upcoming events.
The Dean of the Economics Department, Oleg A. Tsepelev, who, incidentally, speaks English and Chinese, the languages mainly spoken by the club participants, greeted the audience with a welcoming speech. He emphasized that in recent years, the number of foreign students at the department has increased considerably. And today, one of the main tasks of the department is to create favourable conditions not only for foreign students’ studying but also for the organization of their leisure, personal, social, and creative fulfilment, as well as to ensure the safety of foreign students, which is what the activity of the International Students’ Club is aimed at. Members of the club will be given free access to its premises, computers with Internet access, and peripheral devices.
Membership in the club will allow students to communicate with people of various cultures, find new friends from other countries, gain skills in international activities, take part, and also organize and conduct workshops, themed meetings, scientific and cultural events for other students. Club location: room 201, building 5.
