The university's student project team became the only Russian finalist in the International Space Science and Scientific Payload Competition, organized with the support of the Chinese Society of Astronautics, Beijing Institute of Technology, International Academy of Astronauts and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. At the beginning of 2024, works of university students from around the world were accepted for two categories:
- development of creative space science experiments,
- development innovative space payloads.
The shortlist of participants was posted on the official website of the competition. Among them were 30 student projects from prestigious universities in China, Russia, Poland, Sweden, Mexico, Pakistan, Egypt, and Sri Lanka.
The team presented to the experts a project that the students had been working on since the first year: an instrument for small spacecraft to study the phenomenon of contamination.
The final of the competition will be held from August 11 to 13 in Hong Kong. Winners will receive cash prizes, recommendations for participation in space projects (the Chinese Space Station, the International Space Station, etc.), professional support from academics and industry experts, and comprehensive support for the implementation of technical = aspects, as well as sponsorship.
