International Mathematical Olympiad

Welcome to the page of the International Mathematical Olympiad!

The initiator of the Olympiad is the School of Mathematical Analysis and Modeling of Amur State University.

Mathematics lays the foundation of the sciences that explain how our world works. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of mathematical sciences in the development of each person and humanity as a whole. Our Olympiad is not only a competition between talented students, but also a celebration day for those who love mathematics!

The history of the Olympiad began in 2021, when, in the conditions of closed borders and a difficult epidemiological situation, we decided to hold an event that will unite both students talented in mathematical sciences and their mentors.

In the first year, students of our university and the Heihe University (China) took part in the Olympiad. In the second year, the Far Eastern Federal University and the Ammosov North Eastern Federal University, Shenyang Aerospace University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics joined our two universities. In the future, we plan to expand the geography of participants.

Students are offered 10 tasks to solve, including problems in mathematical analysis, algebra and geometry, complex analysis, differential equations and probability theory. The students are given 4 hours to complete the tasks. The Olympiad program is designed for Bachelor or Specialist Programs students studying in natural science and engineering fields.

Our Olympiad is particularly interesting to foreign participants, since it is included in the List of Olympiads, according to the results of which foreign students and stateless persons can apply for the Master's programs of the Russian Universities under the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation in the 2023/24 academic year.

We really hope that the Olympiad will become a Far Eastern point of attraction for gifted students not only from Russian regions, but also from countries of CIS and far abroad.

With deepest respect,
Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor,
Head of the Department of
Mathematical Analysis and Modeling     Maximova Nadezhda Nikolaevna
